The Slipper Swap Social events which were recently held across Hertfordshire are opportunities to provide information and advice to local residents to help them to avoid falls, to connect to their community, and to stay active and well. They are part of the Library Service social care information offer delivered in partnership with Adult Care Services.

Over 300 pairs of new anti-slip footwear were provided.

As part of the event, Occupational Therapists gave Falls Prevention talks to groups and individuals at the events, and services including including Herts Careline, AgeUK, HertsHelp, Fire Safety, Small Acts of Kindness, Carers in Hertfordshire, Hertswise and Diabetes Foot Health provided information and assistance to visitors.

To help to combat isolation and loneliness, local clubs such as U3A Lea Valley, Over 60s Centre, Getting together club, and Hoddesdon & District Old People's Welfare, were invited to come along and talk to visitors about their groups and encourage visitors to join.

Slipper Swap Socials will be running again next Autumn / Winter, so look out for information in your local library.
