Careline Operator, Jess Murray, is walking a marathon this month in aid of Cancer Research.
“After meeting up for socially distanced walks in lockdown we joked one day that we should push ourselves to walk to London. And once we get an idea in our heads, we tend to roll with it! Although this will be a tough and a personal challenge for us all, it nothing compared to what many go through when suffering from this illness.”
Jess and her boyfriend Stephen are going to be walking a marathon from Welwyn Garden City to the Cancer Research HQ in London on 23 June 2021 to raise money for Cancer Research UK. They will be setting off in the early hours and trekking all day (and night if need be), carrying all the supplies they may need.
There are many reasons why they are doing this, some harder to talk about than others, but cancer has affected all their lives over the years in some way. “We have lost some incredible people to this illness and know many who are still fighting. We also know that so many of you reading this have also had your lives touched by this disease and we want to do our bit to help fight it.”
So here is their pledge: “We want to raise as much as we possibly can, to be able to help as many people as we can.” You can visit their fundraising page here.
