When attending the recent Vision Loss Forum event, an attendee mentioned a free App they use that ‘reads’ what it detects in front of it. They said it was helpful reading computer screens, newspapers and books. sight loss by reading out loud what it sees. It is a free App which will give an audio description of a person, how many people there are close by, read out documents and web pages, denominate currency in a wallet and identify colours.

Other Apps may be available, so please do your research and make sure you’re happy with the way the Apps hold data etc, but it could be useful.

We also learned about Talking Newspapers which are subscription based and read aloud local and national newspapers.
