When activated, the device uses 4G/3G technology to send an alert, along with your GPS location, to Herts Careline’s 24/7 control room. You can then speak with the call operator through the device’s speakerphone, and help will be arranged. What does the service include? For just £25 per month (+ VAT), you will receive: A neckworn GPS alarm for outdoor use A base unit and indoor pendant for use inside the home A key safe worth £130, providing access in an emergency A medical alert card and key finder fobs Additional telecare, available upon referral Apply online now GPS alarm signal limitations To send location data, the GPS alarm needs a route to the sky. It will not operate underground or in large buildings away from openings such as windows or doors. Its functionality may also be impaired in forests or in cities where there are a number of high-rise buildings, or at altitude. How does the outdoor GPS alarm work? Activate the outdoor alarm to send an alert by pressing and holding both buttons on each side of the device at the same time. A call operator will receive your location and speak to you through the pendant’s speakerphone. There is also a microphone in the device, so you can respond if possible. Frequently asked questions How quickly will the alarm be installed? We aim to have your alarm set up within 10 working days but this is often sooner, especially in certain situations. In some emergency cases (such as being discharged from hospital), we will try to install your home alarm within a couple of working days. Is the device water resistant? Yes - the device can be worn in the shower or rain; however, it shouldn't be submergered in water. Can I wear the GPS alarm with a pacemaker? Only is you use the longer neck chains we can supply on request, or alternatively, it can also be adapted to attach to your belt or trousers. Please be aware that the GPS alarm must be kept at least 25 cm away from your pacemaker at all times. Will the GPS alarm track my location all the time? No - your location is only shared with our control room when you activate the alarm. We can’t access your location at any other time.
