If you or a loved one has recently experienced a stroke, or suffers from recurrent strokes, we can offer a range of telecare solutions and alternative services that can help provide a personalised support system. Relevant equipment and service adaptations could include:
- SMS texting in an emergency: For those impacted by strokes primarily effecting speech, we offer an SMS texting-based emergency response. This works the same as our standard pendant alarm service, using one of our wrist or neck-worn pendants to raise an alert in an emergency, but instead of having to speak to us through the alarm unit, a call operator will text you to receive the relevant information relating to the alert. If we're unable to reach you, we will still assume there is an emergency and arrange help. To receive this variation of our service, please make us aware during the application process or contact us if you have a pre-existing service with Herts Careline.
- Fall detection: We offer wrist and neck-worn pendants that can be installed with fall detection. If the device senses a fall, an alert will automatically go through to our control room without the pendant needing to be triggered manually. Please note, this technology cannot detect falls accurately every time and must therefore only be used as an additional support tool and in certain circumstances – we can advise on this.
- Easy press pendant: If you suffer a loss of motor control and strength during a stroke, we offer an 'easy press' pendant that makes it significantly easier to press the button to raise an alert for help. Just ask for the adaptation when you join the service.
- Medication reminders: If you have difficulties taking your preventative medication consistently, we offer a pill dispenser that will alert you audibly at the precise time you need to take your medication. This can be provided as additional telecare, free of charge upon a professional referral when you join our service.
