Professionals - refer a person for assistive technology

We work closely with health and social care professionals, carers, the NHS, GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, support groups, community hubs, charities, Hertswise, the Police, Herts Fire & Rescue and other professional referral partners to ensure that those in their care in the community receive the benefits of assistive technology as quickly as possible.

Our services are available to anyone you believe would benefit from the increased reassurance, safety and independence that assistive technology can bring.

COVID-19 Update

If you wanted to Refer a service user for a community alarm or telecare, but have concerns regarding COVID-19, rest assured the current situation will not stop us installing their equipment. If the person is not self-isolating we will be able to attend their home in the usual way. If they are feeling unwell, we have processes in place to support those self-isolating or suffering from COVID-19. We can provide pre-programmed digital equipment to the doorstep without the need to enter a person’s home. We will then telephone the service user to guide them through the simple process of plugging the equipment in and making a test call to the Control Room to ensure everything is working as it should be. All our engineers will be wearing PPE and gloves and will use sanitising wipes on the way in and way out, and adhere to 2 metre social distancing regulations.

  • fall detectors

  • complex needs smart monitors

Make a referral

We'll install appropriate assistive technology in your service user’s or patient's home, depending on their specific needs as described by you on your referral form.

We can also assess and bespoke our services for people with complex needs, epilepsy, dementia, mobility issues or learning disabilities.

You can also refer via ACSIS - (open client record, open case file, click on Documents, create document, general template, Careline).

Please note once a referral is made, we will send an application pack to the address you give us for the service user. If you prefer the pack to be sent to a different address or require our free form filling service then please state this on the referral form to avoid delay.

Access to this service is not means tested.

There is a substantially subsidised monthly charge of £20 + VAT per month (inclusive of all calls) and the same price as just a community alarm) – this covers the cost of monitoring calls, equipment maintenance and an Emergency Response Service. There are no installation or equipment costs and we can have the service in place within 14 days, often sooner in certain circumstances.

Herts Bernie has its own cost of £18.25+VAT per month.

We offer a free form filling service.

Some service users may not have family or friends to help them complete their application form.
