You now need photo ID to vote at a polling station

Description
The UK Government has introduced a requirement for voters to show photo ID when voting at a polling station at some elections. This new requirement will apply at the local elections on Thursday 2 May 2024.

Parkinson's Awareness Day

On World Parkinson's Awareness Day, we're sharing how telecare and pendant alarms could be of reassurance to people living with this condition. If you or someone you know has Parkinson's, they may feel more reassured with a pendant or other equipment which can alert us for help whenever they need it.

Maintenance Sat 13th April

On the morning of Saturday 13th April there will be some electrical maintenance work being undertaken at the Council Offices in Letchworth to enable to final installation of the Electric Vehicle charging points.Herts Careline's control room is not affected and will continue to answer all emergency calls 24/7 from our alternative control room. We'd just like to ask that if you would usually make a test call on this day, that you could help us by testing on an alternative day if possible. Thank you for your understanding.

App and Talking Newspapers for those living with Vision Loss

Description
When attending the recent Vision Loss Forum event, an attendee mentioned a free App they use that 'reads' what it detects in front of it. They said it was helpful reading computer screens, newspapers and books. sight loss by reading out loud what it sees. It is a free App which will give an audio description of a person, how many people there are close by, read out documents and web pages, denominate currency in a wallet and identify colours.

System Upgrade – 8th and 9th April

Herts Careline will be undergoing a system upgrade on the 8th and 9th of April 2024.While our control room will remain operational during this time, we would appreciate it if you would usually make a test call on this day, that you could help us by testing on an alternative day if possible, from the 10th April onwards.

On #PurpleDay, the international awareness day for epilepsy, we want to make sure that we're doing all we can to share information about how our telecare service is making a difference to many young people and adults living with Epilepsy.Did you know that we can provide equipment to monitor and support young people and adults living with epilepsy? This can be at home or outside anytime time during the day and night.
